Secure VPN was the initial path I wanted to follow, as I read the mentions of security through all the searching. Thanks for the replies! I'll try and answer as best I can.Īs far as I'm aware the safest way to print remotely is either creating a secure VPN between your sites, or to use some form of secure remote access (Teamviewer, RDP over VPN etc), this way you're not exposing your printer to anyone on the internet. What is the VPN deterrent here? Why can the application actually print to a Windows Dialog? It should be the faster way and opening a printer over WAN is not recommended. Using windows 10, the remote terminal cannot find the printer when told to search for its private IP.

The hardware support rep from the software company we use has never heard of anyone setting this up, but I found reference to it in the Sonicwall knowledge base. The store with the printer is on a TZ210, so I used the public service wizard and opened port 9100 on the default public IP, with the private IP being the address shown on the printer's configuration report. Before the windows issue we could remotely use the printer by adding it with the IP of the terminal it was cabled to and use the regular windows print dialog. So I put it on a switch and networked it.

Previously, the printer was cabled to a terminal in the store, but windows 10 has decided its not going to allow any remote terminal to access the printer any longer. I have an HP M402 networked printer in one, and the owner wants to be able to print to it from the second without a VPN.

I have a problem with any Windows 10/11 PC on our network when our internet goes offline.(FYI Our company is located in a farming/rural aria where internet is not stable)The PC's (all 75 of them) will not see or access any PC/Servers via Names on the net.I have two store locations with a sonicwall in each. When internet is offline windows 10/11 cant see local LAN PC Names but only IP's Windows. When dealing with RDP, and restricting it to specific monitors instead of all monitors, everything I have read indicates you get the monitor numbers by using the MSTSC / command.however I see situations where these numbers change because of changing doc. using RDP on multiple monitors: what are the monitor IDs listed in MSTSC /l Windows.I would hate for you to show up late for work
